Sermon delivered November 9, 2008
1 Peter 3:1-6, is not a well-received exhortation by a large portion of our society. Our world has been ravaged by radical feminists, women's liberation, and the homosexual agenda, to the point that even many believers have swayed from insisting that God's given order for our homes is best. Add to that our tendency to like order but not orders, and throw in a measure of disbelief in absolute truth, and you have what seems to be the plight of many families today, where brokenness and unfulfillment are par for the course.
As Baptists, we believe God has spoken. We further believe the difficulty lies not in hearing Him, but in obeying Him! We will spend the last weeks in November looking at the last section in our series, "What We Believe," on the topic of "Family." Today, we'll see what God has said to wives. Men, don't ride too high this week, because your (my) day will come next week. Later will look at children and parenting issues. For now, wives, could God really be serious? Maybe He just doesn't really know your husband...
