Sermon delivered Sunday November 2, 2008 

I recently read an article on about.com claiming Southern Baptists to be opposed to the separation of church and state, opposed to personal liberty, and opposed to autonomy.  Just a guess -- the author is not a member of a Southern Baptist church?  Actually, the author was writing under the section entitled, "Atheism."  Interesting -- an atheist informing the world about what Southern Baptists (and other denominations) believe. 

With national elections just around the corner, I thought it was Divine Providence that we are on the seventeenth part in our series, "What We Believe."  The topic is Religious Liberty; and, quite opposed to the about.com article, it was the Baptists in particular who were instrumental in ensuring the people of our nation could enjoy federally protected religious liberty.  We'll begin with Colossians 2:15-3:3, but the substance of this message is topical...
