OT Preaching (Story of Joseph #1, Introduction)
An Old Testament professor who teaches a Doctorate of Ministry class on OT Theology has his students, prior to the first class, make a list of their sermon texts for the last five years. The results are consistent. The vast majority of his students (preachers) leave out the Old Testament as their primary text for Sunday morning sermons. Even those Christians reading their Bibles, except for the Psalms, seem to leave out the Old Testament. Before beginning a study of the Story of Joseph, let's take a look at why this avoidance may be, and see if we can't reset some thinking about the Old Testament (and how to study it).
