Gospel Essential #4: Man Is Condemned
Perhaps one of the most famous "fire and brimstone" sermons of all time was delivered by Jonathan Edwards on a hot July 8, 1741, in Connecticut. The sermon was titled, "Sinners In The Hands Of An Angry God," and it clearly revealed the Biblical truths of perpetual burning in hell, of man condemned to it, and of God's restraining mercies. Unfortunately, even in major denominations, this clear teaching of Scripture has been revised. When the logic of man conflicts with the reality of God, to some it seems best to revise God. Yet, God is not subject to the futile definitions of man. "I am Who I am" He told Abraham, and that is Who He remains!
