“And whatever you do, in word or deed, do everything in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him.” Colossians 3:17
We continue “New Song September” today here at Westside, and today’s song is especially an important one for us to learn. For those of you who may have missed last week, we will be hearing new songs each Sunday during the month and singing them together as part of congregational worship the following Sunday. Today, we will be singing together the song, “I’m Singing” which you heard as part of last Sunday’s worship service.
As stated earlier, our new song to hear today, “God of this City” is important for us to learn. Not only is this song a part of our “New Song September,” but it also has given us the name for our new Wednesday night outreach emphasis, “Greater Things.” We are called to do greater things. We are called to be ambassadors for Christ in word and in deed. After our Sunday morning study of Galatians and our small group examination of the Nine Marks of a Healthy Church, we have come to the conclusion that our church is thriving when it comes to be ambassadors for Christ in word, but we feel we can do more as ambassadors in deed.
As we get ready to experience a change in location for our worship services, we decided that more change was needed. This is the reason for “Greater Things.” It is our desire to flood this community with greater things, not so that they will see the good works of Westside Baptist Church, but so that this city will see Jesus Christ! In order for this to be a success, all of us must evaluate our commitment to our church, our community, and Christ!

You’re the God of this city, You’re the King of these people, You’re the Lord of this nation, You are. You’re the light in this darkness, You’re the hope to the hopeless, You’re the peace to the restless, You are.
There is no one like our God. There is no one like our God.
For greater things have yet to come, and greater things are still to be done in this city.Greater things have yet to come, and greater things are still to be done in this city.
