Westside Whistle V.3 I. 3
Are you going to be ready when the Lord calls?
“If we do not learn from the past told in the BIBLE, then how do we live today while becoming prepared for our future as Christians?”

BIBLE BYTE:
JOB 23:1-17
Job Says He Longs for God
1Then Job replied,
2 "Even today my complaint is rebellion;
His hand is heavy despite my groaning.
3 "Oh that I knew where I might find Him,
That I might come to His seat!
4 "I would present my case before Him
And fill my mouth with arguments.
5 "I would learn the words which He would answer,
And perceive what He would say to me.
6 "Would He contend with me by the greatness of His power?
No, surely He would pay attention to me.
7 "There the upright would reason with Him;
And I would be delivered forever from my Judge.
8 "Behold, I go forward but He is not there,
And backward, but I cannot perceive Him;
9 When He acts on the left, I cannot behold Him;
He turns on the right, I cannot see Him.
10 "But He knows the way I take;
When He has tried me, I shall come forth as gold.
11 "My foot has held fast to His path;
I have kept His way and not turned aside.
12 "I have not departed from the command of His lips;
I have treasured the words of His mouth more than my necessary food.
13 "But He is unique and who can turn Him?
And what His soul desires, that He does.
14 "For He performs what is appointed for me,
And many such decrees are with Him.
15 "Therefore, I would be dismayed at His presence;
When I consider, I am terrified of Him.
16 "It is God who has made my heart faint,
And the Almighty who has dismayed me,
17 But I am not silenced by the darkness,
Nor deep gloom which covers me.

DO YOU KNOW A KENTUCKY FAMILY THAT COULD USE A HOME MAKEOVER? IF SO, ABC WANTS TO HEAR FROM YOU:
ABC’s EXTREME MAKEOVER: HOME EDITION SEARCHING FOR DESERVING? FAMILIES
Do you know a family whose home deserves an Extreme Makeover? If so, the producers of ABC’s Extreme Makeover: Home Edition wants to hear from you.
Ty Pennington and his crew have been all across the map and now they want to drive that famous bus to Kentucky!
“We are looking for the deserving people and inspiring families that America can really root for,” says Casting Supervisor Rebecca Shumsky.
What does it take to be picked for an Extreme Makeover? "We're looking for those special people who have amazing strength of character and never give up. Whether it’s keeping their chin up in really tough circumstances or going out of their way to help others. We want to help people whose stories have really affected their community or made a big difference in other people's lives.” Shumsky added: "There are a lot of people who are heroes to those around them because of the way they inspire others and quietly serve their communities on a daily basis."
The Extreme Makeover: Home Edition producers are looking for families whose homes desperately need to be rebuilt. “We really want to help families whose homes present major problems for the family, those big issues that affect the family's quality of life on a daily basis. We want to find deserving people who just don't have the resources, ability, or time to fix those serious issues without our help.”
To be eligible, a family must own their own single family home and be able to show producers how a makeover will make a huge difference in their lives. Interested families should e-mail a short description of their family story to:

IN CLOSING
God has always been an influence on His creation and will continue to be as well. The Bible gives us an amazing history of mankind from our beginning to the birth and death of His son upon the cross to the foundational creation of the church. We have many laws, covenants, commands, and more placed on man that lead to the arrival of Jesus that fulfilled many of them; but many still impact our lives today and in the future too. Many laws and statutes that law enforcement personnel follow today have their origins in the 10 commandments that God gave man, see Exodus 20. We can learn many wondrous things about mans history throughout the Old Testament. These will include thing that will enlighten us, things that will shame us, thing that will bless us, and things that will help us grow to be more like Christ in our daily walk with Him. Learning is knowledge, knowledge is power, but that gained power is the question. Will you use it for the betterment of yourself and those around you, or will you turn from it and not find a way to put it to use that would bring glory and honor to God? That is up to you. So please join us Sunday mornings as we study the Old Testament as a united church body for Christ.
Serving Our Savior,
Robert Blair,
Westside Baptist Church Elder
