This coming Sunday at Westside Baptist Church, we will have our annual Operation Christmas Child shoe box packing party and pot luck luncheon. Our goal this year is to stuff and fill 35+ plastic shoe boxes with personal hygiene items. School supplies, hard candies, and yes toys for distribution worldwide through Samaritans Purse. Operation Christmas Child is a ministry that through the power of our simple stuffed shoe boxes from churches and other organization can open the door and have the ministry opportunity to present the story of Jesus Christ and how His gift of hope and salvation for all of us is able to be shared. A box that you help fill may go to a child in Afghanistan or to a child in Zimbabwe; no matter where it ends up, children will be laughing and feel special about them self while getting to know Jesus thanks to your efforts hear locally. Sometimes the smallest efforts locally do lead to big changes globally. For more information on Operation Christmas Child and Samaritans Purse Ministries, please visit their website at www.samaritanspurse.org.
This Sunday, we will have a pot luck luncheon following our worship service. Please feel free to bring your favorite Thanksgiving related dish or dessert as we have a church wide family feast to allow us to give thanks this November as a Christian family. After the great feast, we will be filling the shoe boxes with all the items we have been collecting for the last month. The leadership at Westside Baptist would like to take this chance to thank you all for the donations, but we will need to also collect $7.00 per shoe box to cover shipping costs. We will have a donation basket for anyone to drop off their donations in Sunday to help us with the shipping costs. This will be a great time for worship, prayer, fellowship, and ministry work all in just a few hours time. The power of you time and efforts will grow to become a wonderful gift for the glory and grace of Jesus. We hope to see you at Westside Baptist the Sunday morning with empty stomachs, a giving heart, a renewed spirit, and a lot of home cooked food for the pot luck. We know when you leave you will have full stomachs, joyful spirits, thoughts of friends, and some empty dinner plates. God bless and remember that the power of a simple gift starts with you.
