WHAT IS THANKSGIVING?

For many people now, Thanksgiving has become a day filled with football, food and planning on how to try to find the best black Friday deals possible in their area. It now focuses on the fast pace of today’s society and physical treasures of now. Thanksgiving has lost is meaning of being with family and friend and even opening their home or table up to a stranger to show kindness to their fellow man. It was meant to be a day where we give thanks for the blessing that God provided us with during the harvested crops, the family and friends we were blessed with around us throughout the past year, even to the point of welcoming strangers and making new friends with them. God has blessed us one and all in many ways throughout this past year as individuals and as a church family. We at Westside Baptist have been blessed with seeing 3 people baptized this year, grown the size of congregation, and continues to do so. He guides guests to our front door each week it seam, and allows us to plant the seeds of hope and forgiveness in the hearts of the lost. He has put us on a more solid foundation for us to continue to grow upon spiritually and physically. He has blessed in other ways too such as the sounds of children Sunday mornings during our worship services, He constantly provides us with a location to worship in that protects us from the outside elements, and He has even added the sound of a violin into our worship band. As a church, Westside Baptist does have many things to be thankful for this Thanksgiving Day. Take some time this coming holiday, and truly give thanks for the large and small things that impact your life each day; everything from the simple smile and thank you you received from helping a stranger to the wreck that you missed out on or walked away from unharmed. You never know when God will impact you life He could have been the one smiling at you, the one protecting you from harm, or he could be waiting for you to say I need guidance and His forgiveness when we have done wrong. Be thankful that you home is in a land of freedom where we can worship Him with open arm and not be worried of being oppressed and having to hide from unsaved mans fearful weapons of harm. God I just want to say, THANK YOU for loving me and saving me, because without you, I would truly have nothing to be thankful for this Thanksgiving Day.
